Following the world premiere of the V8-powered LC 500, Lexus unveils the All-New LC 500h at the Geneva Motor Show 2016, featuring the world’s first Multi Stage Hybrid System - a next generation hybrid powertrain specifically designed for performance.
Together the LC 500 and LC 500h represent a new era for Lexus: engineering expertise and expressive design united without compromise to present a flagship luxury coupe. We invite you to discover both models, alongside the LF-LC concept which the LC brings from vision to breath-taking reality.
The LC 500h combines greater efficiency with exhilarating power, setting a new standard for hybrid performance. The Lexus Multi Stage Hybrid System was developed to deliver a more sporting and engaging driving experience, while achieving the best possible balance of power and fuel consumption.
By marrying elements of a traditional hybrid powertrain (including a 3.5 litre V6 petrol engine, a powerful electric motor and a lithium-ion battery pack) to a 4-speed automatic gearbox mounted at the rear of the hybrid transmission, the Multi Stage Hybrid System achieves a more direct connection between the accelerator pedal and vehicle acceleration. The result is 0-100 km/h times well into the sub-5 second range (data quoted is provisional and subject to change).
Both the LC 500 and LC 500h are the achievement of heightened collaboration between Design and Engineering teams at Lexus, creating a flagship luxury coupe fit to mark the beginning of a new era.
Together they make a strong statement about the future direction of Lexus and represent our ongoing commitment to design, performance, and artisan craftsmanship.
The LC shares many of the key design elements, proportions and visual dynamism of the concept car from which it takes inspiration. Defined by an athletic aerodynamic shape and sensual curves, LC’s flowing roof creates a low, wide imposing stance to unite function and performance with impassioned form.
The front fascia features a powerful interpretation of Lexus’ signature “spindle” grille, while interior styling reflects the dynamic luxury of the LC’s exterior. Driving position has been calibrated to invite spirited, sporting driving with intuitive control.
Alongside the next generation hybrid performance of the LC 500h sits the impressive V8 engine of the LC 500. A sharp, refined drive is achieved while maintaining the superior ride quality expected of a luxury coupe. Power delivery to the rear wheels is handled by the 5.0-litre V8 engine producing target 473 DIN hp @ 7,100.
This is mated to a newly developed 10-speed automatic transmission — the first ever in a luxury automobile — with shift times rivalling those of a dual-clutch transmission. Such engineering allows the LC 500 to achieve performance and agility uncommon for a 4-person coupe, accelerating 0 - 100 km/h in less than 4.5 seconds (data quoted is provisional and subject to change).
The LC represents an unprecedented design and engineering achievement for Lexus, translating the ambition of the LF-LC concept originally unveiled four years ago in 2012. Development of the LC overcame many of the manufacturing, design and material obstacles that typically compromise conceptual vision.
Engineering teams have worked tirelessly to find new solutions and maintain as much of the LF-LC as possible in the LC, creating a vehicle truly deserving of Lexus flagship status.
