To create amazing, you have to do things the hard way. That’s why – when developing our first car, the LS 400 – we tasked 60 designers and 1,400 engineers with creating an extraordinarily refined sedan that would revolutionise the luxury car market on its launch in 1989. The new LS is no less remarkable. Built at the most award-winning plant on earth, a total of 3,000 improvements have been made. Inside, it has the world’s widest multimedia display, pioneering air conditioning and Advanced Pre-Crash technology. Incredibly comfortable and enjoyable to drive, and now available as an F SPORT model, it is – quite simply – the most refined Lexus sedan ever built. Travelling in the LS endows a very special feeling. Second glances are born of its remarkable, bold design featuring an iconic chrome-framed front 'spindle grille'. The new LS 600h is also the first Lexus model to introduce LEDs for all exterior lights, including the headlights, fog lights and rear combination lights.

For the headlights, the development team further evolved the characteristic Lexus 3-lamp design. Positioning the low beams higher than the high beams creates a dynamic look. This is also the first Lexus model to have LED turn signal lamps, each comprising 12 LEDs. The new LS is also the world’s quietest luxury sedan, with a ‘speech intelligibility index’ of almost 100% at 100 km/h, meaning you can enjoy a relaxed conversation as you travel. Our search for silence left no stone unturned. By perfecting a new laser screw welding process to make the chassis even stiffer, we significantly reduced vibrations. Wind noise has also been lessened thanks to a near-flat car underbody and tiny winglets fitted to the front door frame moulding and rear lights. To minimise road noise, we developed wheels with a special hollow chamber rim to absorb tyre noise and optimised the car’s acoustic damping materials. Finally, a COMFORT mode on the new Drive Mode Select adjusts the air suspension for a smoother and more relaxed ride.
