As a premium automotive manufacturer, we fully understand our responsibilities and the need to reduce the impact Lexus vehicles have on the environment.
Indeed, it was almost two decades ago that our engineers recognised that a reconciliation of the disparate goals of performance and fuel economy, power and low emissions could not be achieved through existing technology. So we instigated an intensive development and refinement programme which resulted in the creation of a unique, full hybrid drive powertrain - Lexus Hybrid Drive.
Lexus remains the first, and only, luxury car manufacturer offering a comprehensive range of full hybrid models, addressing growing environmental concerns and the desire for cleaner more efficient vehicles. In the case of the LS 600h for example, CO2 emissions are approximately 25% lower than equivalent premium sedans, without any sacrifice of performance. Moreover, nitrogen oxide (NO) and hydrocarbon (HC) emissions have been finally reduced to virtually zero.
