The LC Convertible’s 5.0-litre V8 petrol engine is hand-tuned by a Takumi master craftsman to provide an incredible driving experience with seemingly endless acceleration and power. Tested to the limit at the Nürburgring 24-hour Race, it delivers power via a close-ratio Direct Shift 10-speed automatic transmission.

LOW CENTRE OF GRAVITY

Thanks to all main components - including the roof hydraulics - being set low, the LC Convertible boasts a lower centre of gravity than the LC coupé. Leaving nothing to chance, the engineers even specified an exotic combination of magnesium and aluminium to keep the roof frame’s weight to a minimum.

POP UP HOOD

Activated by sensors mounted in the front bumper, should you collide with a pedestrian, the Pop Up Hood slightly raises the level of the bonnet to give more space between it and the hard components of the engine underneath. This reduces the risk of injuries to the pedestrian.

LEXUS SAFETY SYSTEM +

At the wheel of the LC Convertible, it‘s reassuring to know that you’re driving in one of the safest cars ever built, equipped with Lexus Safety System +, which helps prevent rear-end collisions, lane departures and collisions involving pedestrians. Lexus Safety System + is standard on the LC Convertible and includes a Pre-Collision System with pedestrian detection; Advanced Lane Keeping Assist to help you stay on course; Automatic High Beam for enhanced vision at night; and Dynamic Radar Cruise Control, which regulates your speed to that of the vehicle in front.

Inspired by the afterburners of jet fighter aircraft, eye-catching taillights with a sculpted metallic frame project an infinite Lexus ‘L’ motif. Closer inspection reveals the boot lock integrated seamlessly in the rear light moulding.

SOFT TOP ROOF

Our design team faced a double challenge with the LC Convertible: to create the world’s most beautiful convertible, both with the roof up and down. An amazing piece of engineering, the soft top roof flows with the same elegance as that of the LC coupé. Fifteen seconds is all it takes to raise or lower the 4-layer (1. acrylic outer cloth; 2. insulating rubber; 3. PET inner fabric; 4. sound absorbing material) roof, and this can be done at speeds up to 50 km/h.

AMAZING V8 SOUND

Making the LC Convertible’s V8 more enjoyable when the roof is down, and inspired by the iconic pitch of the Lexus LFA supercar, a sound generator transmits sensual engine sounds through the dash panel, while an exhaust valve enhances the powerful engine note.

HIGHLY RIGID BODY

To reduce noise and vibrations to a minimum, Lexus created a highly rigid chassis using ultra-high-tensile strength steel, lightweight aluminium and carbon-fibre reinforced plastic. For agile handling, our engineers then fitted rear suspension braces, underfloor strengthening and a torsion box behind the rear seats.

FLUSH DOOR HANDLES

The LC Convertible’s flush door handles realise a smooth surface across the car body. As well as being beautiful, their aerodynamic shape contributes to increased driving refinement and performance.
