Amazing engineering and state-of-the-art technology means the car is in sync with the needs of the driver; cars that deliver exceptional power and performance, yet not at the expense of the world around them. Amazing design: cars that are stunning to look at. Amazing craftsmanship: the quality of our materials and workmanship means every Lexus is the epitome of luxury.
Amazing in the leaps in technology that we make: we are the creators of Lexus Hybrid Drive. All delivered with an unsurpassed level of customer care; making owning a Lexus as amazing as the car itself.
At Lexus we don’t stop until we create amazing.
Lexus puts each new RX through intense tests that far exceed the real-world scenarios a vehicle will endure in its life on the road. Before reaching the showroom, each model has already been inspected for surface flaws in a light tunnel, checked for perfect smoothness by a master technician trained to feel the difference between two sides of a sheet of paper, subjected to wind and hail simulations, and bombarded with 200mm of rainfall per hour in a typhoon chamber.
Withstanding between two and 10 minutes in the Lexus storm test without letting in a drop of rain is no small feat; the volume of water inside the chamber is about twice the average rainfall recorded in a severe typhoon.
In this short film, we catch a glimpse of the life of the storm chasers who thrive on experiencing these extreme conditions in nature. And in the image gallery below, storm chaser describes some of the most awesome weather he’s encountered and explains how it feels to experience such conditions first-hand.
In the short film above, freediver and author of One Breath Emma Farrell talks about overcoming the body’s natural urge to breathe, while Lexus magazine’s Doug Knox describes how similarly counterintuitive forces have been harnessed in the engineering of Lexus Dynamic Handling.
This new system, installed for the first time in the new GS F SPORT, brings together the car’s steering controls and various sensors to create an exhilarating and agile drive. It’s also the world’s first combination of a dynamic handling system and hybrid drive technology.
At high speeds, the rear wheels turn slightly in the same direction as the front wheels to sharpen the car’s steering responses. At lower speeds, the front wheels steer in the opposite direction from the rear. While this might appear counterintuitive, it actually makes for excellent control and precision, underpinned by safety and stability.
In the accompanying image gallery, apnea author Fred Buyle shares some highlights of the underwater world he’s visited in a life spent pushing the limits of the human body as a freediver and marine photographer.
