Lexus Plug-in Hybrid allows you to enjoy the best of charging and self-charging technology. Find out how it works and why it offers the ideal combination of power, efficiency and security.
A plug-in hybrid (or PHEV) has both petrol engine and an electric motor. The battery, which can be charged at home or at a charging station on the go, is larger than the one to be found in a standard hybrid. This means you can travel further using electric power alone in EV mode creating zero emissions.
The new Lexus NX, for example, allows you to enjoy 65 km of emissions-free driving or up to 80 km when using city streets, PHEVs also offer the added security of a petrol engine which operates in a highly efficient hybrid mode at higher speeds but also provides a back-up when the battery is depleted.
Plug-in hybrids have smaller batteries than all-electric cars which means they can be charged up at home or at one of the many, and repaying multiplying, charging stations across Europe. At home, a conventional household plug can be used or a wall charger installed for more efficient charging. On the road, the Lexus Link app shows you the location, availability and even cost per km at public charging stations across Europe where a cable is used to connect your car to the power source
