THE NEW ESSENCE OF ES

The all-new ES represents a bold evolution of the executive sedan. Over the coming months, a four-part series deep dives into the craftsmanship and innovation guiding its transformation – starting with a look at the design philosophy behind its reimagining.

A DARING NEW DESIGN LANGUAGE

Revealed in spring 2025 and on sale in mid-to-late 2026, the eighth-generation Lexus ES has been shaped by a design ethos of clean technology and understated elegance. This approach fuses contemporary technology-inspired design with the premium, handcrafted quality synonymous with Lexus. Plus, with the ES available for the first time in all-electric driving, this premium model sees its classic sedan styling reinterpreted for the electrified era.

THE EXECUTIVE SEDAN REIMAGINED

Rather than refining past iterations, the ES design team began with a bold ‘super-ideal’ vision and sculpted it into reality – creating an ultra-modern sedan that feels progressive yet unmistakably ES. With increased dimensions throughout and a space-saving platform engineered for electrified powertrains, the ES delivers a low centre of gravity for enhanced stability and control, alongside an SUV-proportioned interior.

INTRODUCING A NEW LEXUS AESTHETIC

The ES ushers in an entirely new signature sedan style while remaining instantly recognisable as a Lexus. Its spindle body rises dramatically from a low-set nose, while symmetrical L-shaped running lights and turn signals leave a lasting impression in the mirrors of vehicles ahead. In profile, the ES appears slimmer, longer and sleeker. Its aerodynamic silhouette creates a trunkless form that tapers to the rear, evoking athletic forward momentum.
“Finding the optimum proportions and silhouette that expresses the stylishness of a sedan was our main focus.”
Yahiko Kumai, Lexus International Chief Designer

INTERIOR LUXURY DISTILLED

Blending elegance with a clean, uncluttered aesthetic, the visual noise often associated with a luxury cabin is conspicuous in its absence. The ES cabin is instead a minimalist, spacious and light-bathed haven with hand-finished quality craftsmanship throughout. The interior also follows the Lexus Tazuna cockpit principles, which see controls and information sources arranged so only the slightest hand and eye movements are required behind the wheel.

UP FRONT SUPERIOR COMFORT

The progressive new front seat design ensures exceptional ride comfort. All-new slim-profile front seats increase cabin space, without compromising comfort, while fatigue and discomfort are markedly minimised during long journeys thanks to seats modelled on the spine’s S-shape. Greater support is also afforded for a variety of physiques through power-extendable front seat cushions.

NEXT-GENERATION TECHNOLOGY

An all-new model offers the perfect platform for a series of technological firsts. In keeping with the modernist ES interior, the new Hidden Switches function reveals a neat row of haptic controls that are revealed from within the dashboard upholstery – but only when the car is switched on. Elsewhere in the cabin, as day turns to night, the natural bamboo-like finish of the door panels gently begins to illuminate in harmony with the vehicle’s ambient lighting.
