Our new Lexus Plug-in Hybrid technology combines powerful Lexus Self-Charging Hybrid performance with outstanding Electric Vehicle (EV) capability to give you class leading refinement, electric range and efficiency in both EV and hybrid modes.
With a Lexus Plug-in Hybrid there are two power sources: a combustion petrol engine and a very large battery. When charged it performs as a pure EV but when the battery gets depleted it combines petrol with renowned Lexus Self-Charging Hybrid technology for best efficiency.
The all-new Lexus NX Plug-in Hybrid draws on over 15 years of experience in pioneering electrification. Power is supplied by 4th generation Lexus Self-Charging Hybrid technology using a high capacity, lithium-ion battery that allows for thrilling acceleration and a class-leading range of more than 64km in EV mode.
The highly advanced Power Control Unit is 20% more powerful yet 10% lighter than the previous generation. It intelligently monitors your driving conditions and controls the flow of power. The result is increased efficiency, lower emissions and optimised performance.
Plug-in Hybrids charge their EV battery using a cable attached to the car and a power source. By charging your car at home, or by using the extensive network of stations across Europe, you can drive without using petrol until the battery is depleted, resulting in zero emissions and significant cost savings in fuel. Once the battery is depleted, you can recharge by plugging-in the car or relying on the frugal self-charging hybrid to continue your journey.
At a basic level the all-new Lexus NX plugs into your normal socket at home to charge it up. However, a Lexus wallbox is recommended to provide optimum charging. When on the road, The Lexus Link app will help you plan your route close to thousands of charging stations so you have the capacity to complete any journey.
PIONEERS IN ELECTRIFIED
In order to curb greenhouse gases, and to reach the goal of becoming a zero emissions company by 2050, Lexus believes that effective vehicle electrification is essential. Since the launch of the RX 400h in 2005, the world’s first electrified luxury car, Lexus has taken the initiative in developing and promoting the widespread use of eco-friendly Self-charging Hybrids. As well as reducing the emissions of cars, by 2050 the plan is to achieve zero CO2 emissions from all Lexus manufacturing plants and minimise their water usage.
